Glen of the Downs is ideally located just off the N11, and 25 minutes drive from Dublin city and 30 minutes from Dublin Airport. It lies between the villages of Kilmacanogue to the North and Kilpedder to the South. From the Northern end both the Great Sugar Loaf and Little Sugar Loaf hills are visible.
How to get to Glen of the Downs Golf Club:
From Dublin (M50):
Travel south on the M50. Remain on the M50 as the motorway joins and becomes the N11 in Loughlinstown. Continue travelling south past Bray. After the village of Kilmacanogue, continue south for approximately two miles and take the Glenview Hotel exit on the left. Once off the N11 take the first turn right and drive a ¼ of a mile. The golf course entrance is on the left.
From Wexford/ Rosslare:
Travel North on the N11, follow signs for Dublin. Drive past Arklow (by-pass), Wicklow (by-pass), Rathnew (by-pass), Ashford (by-pass), Newtownmountkennedy (by-pass) and Kilpedder. Take the Glenview Hotel exit on the left. Turn right at the stop sign and follow the road over the flyover. Take the second turn left and drive a ¼ of a mile. The golf course entrance is on the left.
From Dublin City Airport:
At main exit roundabout, take the second left, at second roundabout take second left. Remain in the left lane and take the first exit. Take the third exit off the roundabout for the M50. Travel south on the M50 and remain on the M50 as the motorway joins and becomes the N11 in Loughlinstown. Continue travelling south past Bray. What to do in the area (other than golf)
Talk a walk on the bright side
Known as the garden of Ireland, Wicklow has no shortage of scenic walks. There are many beautiful routes just a short distance from Glen of the Downs, and in the area itself there is a lovely forest walk. Local people make the most of this nature reserve to walk, enjoy picnics and generally enjoy nature. Wherever you choose to walk in Wicklow you will encounter a surprising variety of terrain from heather moorland to ancient woodland and glaciated river valleys. Relax at the beach
Glen of the Downs is only a twenty minute drive to the sandy shores of Brittas Bay. It is a summer hotspot with its long stretch of golden sand and energetic waves that encourage plenty of swimming and watersports. There are also beaches in nearby Bray and Greystones, which offer excellent coastal walks and numerous places to enjoy a bite to eat by the sea.
Step back in time
Wicklow is an area rich in history and culture, with a large number of archaeological and historical sites of great interest. From the 6th century monastic site at Glendalough to historic houses and gardens, there is plenty of history to explore.
